Eric Liew Hwee Tong
Eric studied and graduated with an Honours Degree in Law from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff. Eric was called to the Bar in 1998 and has since been practising as an Advocate and Solicitor in Singapore undertaking general litigation work.
He has since April 2003 been enrolled and admitted to the Roll as a Solicitor of England and Wales.
In the above capacity, he has practised in the past 8 years with two previous litigation law firms before joining our Law Corporation building on a practice largely concentrating on Family and Matrimonial Laws, Criminal Laws, Military Laws (in the role of Defending Counsel at the Military Court Martial), Tort and Contract Laws as well as in Wills and Probate matters.
In Family Law Practice, which has became a specialised practice, the skills
called upon a Counsel is no longer purely litigious but also having to handle
and grasp hold of human emotional management, persuading parties to come
to terms with settling disputes through mediation and negotiations to limit
the damage done to
every family in a divorce situation. In this regard, our Eric has in many
cases, successfully brought acrimonious cases to a more amicable closure
to enable parties to progress on with their lives.
In the practice of Criminal and Military Laws, Eric has advised many clients. They included cases from molestation, rape, drug consumption to trafficking, as well as unlawful assembly.
In the Civil Law Practice, he has acted in both capacity as Counsel for
the Plaintiffs as well as for the Defendants dealing with matter from debt
recovery to motor accidents, personal injury claims.
